Cataclysm Raiding

Post  Boman on Wed Dec 29, 2010 9:13 am

This past Monday we had an opportunity to go into Blackwing Descent and try out the first 2 bosses, Magmaw and Omnitron Defense System. Pain. Lots of pain. We weren't close on either but started to learn the mechanics. And the trash - wow! The trash is pretty rough too. It won't be bad long-term, and there isn't a lot of it so far. So I think it balances out ok. Afterwards I did some research on World of Logs to see how guilds that were getting them down were performing. I think what it comes down to is:

1. Your DPS needs to average over 10k dps each
2. Your Tanks need to average around 7.5k dps each
3. Your Heals need to average 7.5k hps each

That assumes you are running 3 healers.

Last night we finally had Tol'Barad and took the opportunity to try out the new boss in Baradin Hold, Argaloth. This is an easy place, but we didn't get him down. What we leared:

1. Your DPS needs to average over 10k dps each
2. Your Tanks need to average around 7.5k dps each
3. 3-Healing this didn't seem to be a problem

DPS DPS DPS. It's a 5-minute enrage timer, and we had 4/5 dps over 10k. We didn't make it. So it's an easy fight with simple mechanics, but the DPS is unforgiving. Do not make exceptions - have the DPS.

And finally, my rant about our 10-man team. We're going to be running Friday 6-9pm server, Saturday 8am-12pm server, and Monday 6-8pm server. This past week and next week we are only running Mondays 6-8pm server due to the Holidays. My rant is, I care about raiding. So for those that were on the team that aren't gearing up the toon that they said they'd raid with, or not accepting the invites on the calendar, you are probably not on the invites anymore. It's not because I don't like you, it's because I love to raid and I'm not going to have the fact that you aren't ready, or that you have another toon you are focusing on first, bring the team down. These raids aren't push overs, and we are not going to carry people.

Congrats to all for getting Argaloth down last night! We went with 2 tanks, 3 healers, 5 dps averaging 10k. We got him down right when he enraged.

Aidyn
Dragor (Axiom)

Boman
Ronery

Nezrathii
Ozmademos
Cazdeathupon
Yeazmin (I forget his guild)
*Shaman pug

Next time we'll have to have at least 8 from DO so that we get the guild achievement. But that 10k is really very strict. At least until we have people doing even more dps.

Dare I ask how we've been getting Tol'Barad lately!

Prophets of Medivh would be Yeazmin's guild.
